Cavs take down Timberwolves

The Cavaliers took on the Timberwolves minus Kevin Love, who had surgery on his knee Tuesday morning and won 116-108

It wasn't exactly the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, but the Cavaliers came up big in the fourth quarter on their way to a 116-108 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis. The win improved the Cavs record to an Eastern Conference best 38-16. Meanwhile, Minnesota dropped to 21-35.

The teams were tied at 93-93 after three quarters before the Cavs broke the game open late in the fourth quarter. Leading 109-106, LeBron James hit a three-point shot and Derrick Williams followed with a lay up to give the Cavs an eight-point lead at 114-106 with 1:39 to play.

The Cavs played their first game since Kevin Love underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and is expected to miss about six weeks. Channing Frye started in place of Love and responded with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Frye also hit four three-point shots. James and Kyrie Irving each scored 25 points to lead the Cavs scoring. Tristan Thompson scored 14 points and Williams added 11 to round out the Cavs scoring in double figures.

Former Cav Andrew Wiggins led all scorers with 41 points.
