Cavs struggle in loss to Pistons

The Cavs continue their struggles on the road in Detroit, 106-101

The Cavaliers continued their struggles in March as they saw a lead evaporate and lost 106-101 to the Detroit Pistons on the road. The Cavs drop to 42-21, while Detroit improves to 32-33. The Cavs are just 6-4 in their last 10 games and have lost two in a row.

The Cavs led, 80-73 after three quarters, but the Pistons used a 13-0 run to start the fourth quarter to propel them to the win. 

LeBron James had his eighth triple-double of the season with 29 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, but it was not enough. Kyrie Irving scored 27 points. Channing Frye added 15 points.

Tip Ins

J.R. Returns: J.R. Smith returned to the lineup after missing 36 games after thumb surgery. Smith made just 1-of-8 from three-point range and finished with three points in 19:09 minutes of play.

Triple-Double: LeBron James had his eighth triple-double of the season and his 50th career triple-double. James had 29 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. 

Channing Sparks: Channing Frye helped turn a 10-point deficit into a seven-point lead in the third quarter as he hit four three's. Frye finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. 

Poor from Distance: The Cavs shot just 28.2 percent from three-point range. Channing Frye hit 5-of-7, but other than Frye, most were off from behind the arc. J.R. Smith was just 1-of-8, LeBron James was 0-of-6 and Kyrie Irving just 1-of-5.

Helping Out: The Cavs had 24 assists, while turning the ball over just nine times. LeBron James led with 10 assists. 

No Korver: Kyle Korver sat out with knee soreness.

Next Up: The Cavs will play the second of a three-game road trip against Orlando on Saturday night at 7 pm.
