Kevin Love returns to the starting lineup with 10 points, 9 rebounds against the Jazz

Kevin Love returned to the Cavs lineup against the Jazz and scored 10 points with 9 rebounds

CLEVELAND--Kevin Love was back in the starting lineup.

Tyronn Lue announced that Love would return to the lineup just four weeks and two days after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee.

"The medical staff just said he was great," Lue said prior to the game. "He felt great after the few practices that we had and the couple 3-on-3's that they had. So they said he was ready to go tonight and that's a good sign for us and hopefully he'll continue to stay this way, stay healthy."

Love was on a time restriction, but made the most of it as he scored 10 points and had nine rebounds in 19:44. Love was 5-of-9 from the field, including 0-3 from behind the three-point line.

"It was good to have him back out there," Lue said.

On Tuesday, GM David Griffin said he expected Love to return likely when the Cavs started their four-game road trip this weekend. Last week, starting shooting guard J. R. Smith returned to the lineup after thumb surgery.

Love was injured on Feb. 11 and had arthroscopic surgery to remove "loose bodies" in his knee on Feb. 14. The original timeline was that he was expected to miss six weeks. The Cavs have 16 regular season games left for Love and Smith to get ready for the playoffs.

Love is averaging 20 points a game and 11.1 rebounds and was selected to the Eastern Conference All Star team, but was unable to participate. The Cavs play the Jazz and then start a four-game road trip that starts Saturday in Los Angeles with the Clippers and ends in Charlotte on Friday with the Hornets.

Sanders Up; Williams, Korver Out: Newly signed center Larry Sanders went to Canton and then was recalled in time for Thursday night's game with the Jazz. The Cavs said Sanders might spend his first couple weeks playing in the D league with the Canton Charge. Sanders played the final two minutes against the Pistons after not having  played in the NBA since the 2014-15 season. Derrick Williams did not play against the Jazz with a contusion on his right quad. Kyle Korver (foot) did not play against Utah.
