Postgame Buzz: Hornets vs. Spurs

The Spurs snapped Charlotte's two-game winning streak Saturday night in San Antonio

Manu Ginobili and Patty Mills combined for 28 points off the bench, and Kahwi Leonard tallied a team-high 23 points, to ease the Spurs past the Hornets, 114-94, Saturday night in San Antonio

Kemba Walker scored a season and game-high 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the floor for Charlotte. Rookie Frank Kaminsky added a career-high eight points in nine minutes off the bench.

After trailing by only four points heading into halftime, the Hornets were outscored in the third quarter, 42-29, putting the game out of reach. San Antonio shot 73 percent from the field in the third quarter.

Charlotte will end its three-game road trip Tuesday as it travels to Minesotta to take on the Timberwolves.

Postgame Notes

- The Spurs wore camouflage jerseys Saturday to honor the armed forces.

- Kemba Walker scored 16 points in the first half. He entered the game averaging 15.2 points per game.

- San Antonio won its first NBA title in the 1998-99 campaign. The Hornets have beaten the Spurs on the road only twice since (2001-02 and 2006-07).

- With 56.1 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Charlotte head coach Steve Clifford was assessed a technical foul.

- Manu Ginobili hit three straight three-pointers in a decisive third quarter. The Spurs outscored Charlotte, 42-29, in the period. 

- At the 5:57 mark in the third quarter, Charlotte led San Antonio by six (71-65). 

- Over a span of 12 minutes, the Spurs outscored the Hornets, 36-11.

- San Antonio shot 73 percent in the third quarter

- Charlotte has a two-day break before its next game at Minnesota. It is the first time this season the Hornets have a break longer than one day between games.
