Postgame Buzz: Hornets vs. Knicks

Charlotte claimed its fourth in the last five games Wednesday night against the Knicks

Cody Zeller scored with 0.6 seconds remaining in regulation to give Charlotte its second straight win Wednesday night at Time Warner Cable Arena against the New York Knicks.

Kristaps Porzingis drilled a straight-away three but the clock expired just before the ball left the 7-footer's fingertips, giving Charlotte a 95-93 victory.

Charlotte's bench play was once again the story of the game. Jeremy Lamb and Jeremy Lin combined for 31 points, six rebounds and five steals. The Hornets' reserves outscored New York's bench, 45-29.

Nicolas Batum tallied a season-high 24 points on 10-of-18 from the floor and grabbed five rebounds. The first-year Hornet was the only starter to score in double figures.

Kemba Walker and Al Jefferson struggled against the Knicks. The pair combined to shoot 4-for-21 frrom the field for 13 points and were benched for most of the final frame.

The Hornets won the turnover battle on Wednesday night. New York flipped posession 17 times while Charlotte turned the ball over only five times. Charlotte also tallied more fast break points, 12-6, and points in the paint, 40-28.

Postgame Notes

- Charlotte was throttled on the boards. The Knicks outrebounded the Hornets, 52-33. However, New York committed 17 turnovers while Charlotte finished with only five.

- Jeremy Lin, Jeremy Lamb and Cody Zeller each came off the bench to score in double figures for the second-straight game. Charlotte’s bench outscored the New York reserves, 45-29. 

- The game marked the first time this season Kemba Walker did not score in double figures. Only Nicolas Batum finished with more than 10 points among the starters for the Hornets. Batum scored a season-best 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor.

- Charlotte outscored the Knicks by 12 points at the free throw line and by 12 points inside the paint.
