Postgame Buzz: Hornets vs. Knicks

Charlotte fell to the Knicks, 102-94, Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden

Charlotte snapped its four-game winning streak against the Knicks as the team fell 102-94 at Madison Square Garden Tuesday night.

Kemba Walker scored a game and season-high 31 points on 12-of-21 shooting from the floor. Spencer Hawes led the bench in scoring with a season-high 14 points. The first-year Hornet connected on 2-of-4 from the three-point line and grabbed five assists.

Jeremy Lamb and Jeremy Lin combined to score 25 points for Charlotte off the bench but shot a combined 0-for-4 from deep. 

Rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis led the Knicks with 29 points and 11 rebounds in 31 minutes. Veteran Carmelo Anthony added another 18 points and tallied 11 rebounds.

Postgame Stats

- A day after winning Eastern Conference Player of the Week (Nov. 9-15), Nicolas Batum was held to only four points on 1-of-9 shooting.

- Marvin Williams was ejected with 7:45 remaining in the game for a flagrant foul 2 on New York’s Lou Amundson. The Knicks center suffered a lacerated scalp and did not return to the game.

- P.J. Hairston did not play in New York due to an injured quad. Charlotte head coach Steve Clifford said Hairston is unlikely to return in time for the Hornets’ game on Wednesday.

- Cody Zeller was given his first start of the season Tuesday. Williams was moved to the small forward spot for Charlotte. Zeller finished with six points and five rebounds in over 18 minutes of action.

- Charlotte associate head coach Patrick Ewing was given a video tribute by the Knicks and received a standing ovation from the crowd at Madison Square Garden during a break of action in the third quarter. The hall of famer spent 15 seasons with New York. His No. 33 is retired by the organization.
