The Washington Wizards and Charlotte Hornets square off in the Queen City

The Charlotte Hornets have won three straight but are also 1-7 in their last eight games against Southeast Divisional foes.

The Hornets are coming off a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Sacramento on Monday. Charlotte now looks to continue its comeback in the Southeast Division standings.

 

Trailing division-leader Miami by 1.5 games, Charlotte host Washington Wednesday in its fourth division game of the season. The Hornets dropped the first three--also the first games of the season--but have won eight of its last 11 games since.

 

In its last outing, the Hornets rallied from a 22-point deficit to defeat Sacramento in overtime, 127-122. Charlotte is 3-0 on its current homestand, and with four games remaining before the Hornets leave the hive, the schedule is set up for the team to make some noise. 

 

To do so, Charlotte with have to handle its business within the division. The Hornets are 1-7 in their last eight games against Southeast competition. 

 

Nicolas Batum, who has been battling a stomach virus, will play against Washington.

 

Frank Kaminsky’s professional career is starting to gain traction. 

 

Kaminsky has began to earn more playing time of late and in critical situations. In the past three games he has averaged almost 10 points in 21 minutes per contest. In the win over the Kings, Kaminsky played all five minutes of overtime.

 

Washington reached the Eastern Conference semifinals last season--falling in six games to Southeast Division champs Atlanta-- but has begun the season with a pedestrian 6-5 start. The Wizards were throttled at home by Indiana on Tuesday by 17 points, which snapped a three-game winning streak.

 

Most of the Wizards offense is coming from the backcourt, with Bradley Beal and John Wal combining to average 37.1 points per game.
