Batum's 24 points push Charlotte past Chicago

Charlotte moved to 2-1 against the Bulls this season with a 102-96 win in Chicago Saturday night

CHICAGO - Nicolas Batum finished with 24 points, 11 rebounds and five assists as Charlotte knocked off the Chicago Bulls, 102-96, at the United Center Saturday night.

The Hornets improved to 11-8 on the season with the win. Chicago, which had the fewest losses in the Eastern Conference entering the game, dropped to 11-6.

Charlotte finished with five players in double figures scoring, including 14 points off the bench from Spencer Hawes. Jimmy Butler led Chicago with 25 points while also hauling in eight rebounds.

The fourth quarter had several twists and turns. Chicago led 79-74 with 9:45 remaining but the Hornets fought back to tie a minute later when Hawes hit a three-pointer.

Over the next seven minutes there were four ties and seven lead changes before Cody Zeller hit two free throws to give Charlotte the advantage for good with one minute remaining.

Charlotte returns home for its next two contest beginning with a showdown against Detroit at Time Warner Cable Arena on Monday.
