Mavs And Hornets Talk It Up On Quoteboard

Mavs basketball? It's a talking sport. And after Dallas' 98-95 win over previously unbeaten New Orleans, guys in both locker rooms had plenty to say ... To the Quoteboard!

On closing the game out:

"We really had to battle there in the end. They are obviously one of the best teams in the league right now and they're playing with a lot of confidence and they kept coming and made big shots but we just hung in there. I didn't have a great game but I hung in there. Our defensive zone was effective some at the end and we got some tough rebounds and just hit some big shots down the stretch. J-Kidd hit some big three's and Jet had an amazing second half and he really led the charge in the fourth quarter." – Dirk Nowitzki.

"I thought our guys played hard tonight, as we always do, we just didn't have the execution down the stretch." – Hornets coach Monty Williams.

"For three minutes at the end of the game we just said who wants it more and we were that team tonight." – Jason Terry.

On defending Chris Paul:

"We all know that Chris Paul is the best at running the pick-and-roll in this league and they spread the floor with a lot of shooters around him. He had a great scoring first half where we stayed home on their shooters and then in the second half we tried to get the ball out of his hands some but they have a lot of good shooters out there. – Dirk

"He may not have scored, but he was making everything else happen. The thing with him is that he can really create just about anything almost on his own and so, we had to really pick up our level of attention to detail on him in the second half. Our big guys were out chasing him around and we were double-teaming him some and doing several different coverages just because he can adjust to anything that you were doing. He was still making plays to guys who were hitting shots and it was really difficult. The fact that he didn't score was big." – Mavs coach Rick Carlisle.

On Dallas' 3-PG Attack:

"Our small lineup really battled in there with JJ, J-Kidd and Jet. I'm glad we got a couple of stops towards the end to get the win." – Dirk.

"It put an additional ball-handler out on the floor and now we're unpredictable, playing in the flow and JJ did an excellent job of penetrating, breaking down the defense and kicking it to us for open 3's and it paid off to us." – Jet.

"We were searching for a group that could get something going. We had some groups that would hit a couple of shots and then give up two open shots and turn it over and we just couldn't get any momentum. So look, it was attempt to get more playmaking in the game, get more penetration in the game. There was a gamble …'' – Carlisle.

On recovering from a deficit:

"We have a lot of fire power out there on the offensive end and you see what happens when Jet gets hot and really a 10-point lead in this league is nothing anymore. Teams have so many scorers, so many weapons out there you can lose a 10 point lead in just two minutes against any team.'' – Dirk.

"We escaped. We were fortunate to win because they certainly played well and we didn't play our best. The game was won on guts." – Mavs coach Rick Carlisle.
