Tuesday Donuts: Marriage, Vegas, Bowling
DONUT 1: We told you a couple of weeks ago that Dominique Jones of the Dallas Mavericks was planning to play in the Impact tourney in Las Vegas. Here's DoJo and the rest of the gang, all organized and stuff for the week..
DONUT 2: Check the details in that list and you also see the name "Derek Fisher'' and you see he's scheduled to show up late.
This is a good thing.
The reason Fisher is arriving late in Vegas is because he'll spend the early week in New York as part of lockout negotiations. (There is some dispute over whether he ever planned to actually participate in Vegas workouts, but who gives a crap about that?) When he arrives in Vegas he'll assemble some of the fellas for an update -- and hopefully one as positive as the message SI.com reports he sent last week, when he texted players and told them to be ready for the possibility of the NBA season starting on time.
DONUT 3: Following up on the engagement first announced on DB.com, Jason Kidd married the lovely Porschla Coleman on Saturday (9/10/11, which the couple found to be cute). Congrats, kids!
DONUT 4: Who are the NBA owner "hawks'' and who are the "doves''?
DONUT 5: Please peek into the Mavs DB.com Store! Which will it be? 'YES. WE. DID'? 'Take That Championship Wit Chew'? Or 'The UberMan'?
Or, if you really wish to treat yourself ... The Mavs Jason Kidd BBIQ is in! Show off your BBIQ!
DONUT 6: In case you missed it: Michael Dugat goes through the numbers and the emotions to apologize to JJ Barea.

DONUT 8: Roddy B and Ian Mahinmi have been inseperable this summer when both are in Dallas, as they are working out together at SMU. But this weekend, ex-Mav center Alexis Ajinca got into the act, too. My spies tell me Roddy B and Ajinca were at 300 on Saturday night ... bowling!

DONUT 10: Rick Adelman is the new coach in Minnesota, at a reported $20 mil for four years. Some reports say Adelman beat out Nellie for the job. Nellie was going to give up Maui for Minneapolis? Really?
DONUT 11: The Texas Legends 2011-12 schedule has been officially released. The Legends' home opener will be against in-state rival Austin Toros, on November 26 at 7 pm.
"The countdown has begun," Texas Legends co-owner Donnie Nelson said.
Well, it's not THE countdown. But it'll have to do. Get more info at the Legends website.
DONUT 12: Shaquille O'Neal talks to the New Orleans paper and tries to put Dwight Howard in his place. But that's not what jumps out at me. What jumps out at me is Shaq's inability to put Tyson Chandler in HIS place.
"My thing is if you want to call yourself me (Superman), then you've got big shoes to fill,'' Shaq said. "I'm not in the Superman this, and Superman that. He won a dunk contest with a cape. If you want to be called Superman because of that, it's fine with me. I'm Superman for other reasons. I don't envy him; he's a great young player. But I've never seen him dog another center out. I tried to dog centers out. I went at David Robinson. If Dwight doesn't win two or three championships, I'm going to be disappointed. He doesn't have nobody (to play against).''
Shaq then listed Howard's competition at center in the NBA today.
"Now I can't name any other centers besides Kendrick Perkins and Andrew Bynum,'' Shaq said. "Who else is there? That's it.''
Isn't there one more worthy of mention, Shaq?
