Monday Donuts: Burrowing Deep Inside Mavs HQ
DONUT 1: In case you missed it: The issues addressed in the weekend's CBA meetings and how they will affect the Mavs. Meetings resume on Tuesday, and ...
DONUT 2: Our impression is that the mood is just positive enough to keep the NBA from announcing more cancellations of games at least until after Tuesday. There are mixed signals wafting from the meeting room. But more meetings (including Saturday's seven-hour session) is a good sign.
DONUT 3: One of the great benefits of being a Premium Mavs Fan is the DB.com Premium Discussion Boards, where Mavs insiders like David Lord are available to kick it around with you. Great example today: What if the new CBA allows for two amnesty moves? Would Dallas release Brendan Haywood AND Shawn Marion? D-Lord breaks this down to the penny, and if you want to be a smarter Mavs fan, you really ought to try our free 7-day trial and be a Premium Mavs Fan.
DONUT 4: Is it OK for OKC's Kevin Durant to poke fun at the Sooners? This argument makes the good people of Oklahoma seem awfully small.
DONUT 5: Did we create a way for you to dress like a champion! YES. WE. DID. You might also like the Jason Kidd BBIQ swag!
DONUT 6: Come join us on Twitter! It's good, clean American fun!
DONUT 7: Thanks to McKinneyDentist.com for their support of DB.com and the Mavs ... and their personal attention when it comes to the care of my family. Folks, check 'em out. They are the finest dentists in Collin County ... and quite possibly the world.
DONUT 8: Want a piece of me on Facebook? Any Friend of the Mavs on Facebook is a DB.com Friend of Fish.
DONUT 9: Word from the Boston Globe that the Celtics might invite old friend Josh Howard to camp (if, of course, there is a camp). J-Ho tore his anterior cruciate ligament in February 2010 but is reportedly fully healthy now.
DONUT 10: We welcome to DallasBasketball.com a new partner, Classic of Carrollton. What do they think of the Mavs' title? It causes GM Bucky Davis and the guys to Relax and Enjoy The Difference! At the bottom of Donuts, see the Classic box and click away … and when you are ready to go car-shopping without the high-pressure approach, call Bucky at (972) 242-4000 and tell him The Fish sent you!
DONUT 11: The DB.com staff will be at the AAC tonight for "Basketball 101 For Women.'' Stay tuned throughout the week, starting Tuesday morning, for tidbits, videos, exclusives and full coverage of the goings-on at Dallas Mavericks HQ!
DONUT 12: My son pointed out on NFL Sunday that Twitter is the worst thing ever for a certain network that pretends to "break'' every story. At one moment during the pregame stuff, a TV reporter did just that -- claiming HE had the exclusive scoop on an NFL angle -- but of course, my son and I had already read it 20 different times, 13 minutes earlier, on Twitter.
