One thing you can say about the Dallas Mavericks: they're full of surprises. Another thing you can say: After their 116-101 victory Friday over the Jazz, they are full of quotes. Read on for McKinneyDentist.com Mavs Quoteboard!

One thing you can say about the Dallas Mavericks, they're full of surprises. Nothing's really gone according to plan -- anyone's plan. Did anyone expect the likes of Delonte West (out with a hamstring injury) and Vince Carter (first game back after a foot sprain) to become major contributors? Did anyone expect Lamar Odom to have the hard time he's been having? We've all been expecting things from Rodrigue, but other things keep getting in the way. Did anyone expect Kidd going out after a mere two minutes (calf injury, update coming sometime today)? And did anyone expect the offense to finally drop into gear and roar away with KIDDIRK not on the floor? Dock your expectations, guys, and enjoy the 116-101 spanking of the young-and-intriguing Utah Jazz.

Roddy B is Free, and it is good -- about Rodrigue Beaubois's 22 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 high-altitude blocks ...

"I thought he played the point position as well as he's ever played it, in terms of running the team, making reads. His defense was terrific, and yet he didn't foul. He didn't have any bad fouls. He really had a good feel for where to put everybody on the court. He made plays. He made important plays time and time again ... He's getting better all the time, there's no doubt about it. When he can play with the kind of aggression all the minutes he's out on the floor, his game is going to continue to get better at a faster rate. The more he puts in, the more he's going to get out. The last couple of weeks he made some real strides, and now it's going to be really important that he stays at that high level." -Coach Rick Carlisle

"We had some real problems with that pick-and-roll tonight. That kid's really quick, and anytime you have him running on top of your rim all night you've got to collapse." -Raja Bell

"I'm especially proud of Roddy Beaubois. With Jason Kidd going out early, it could have got ugly for us. He stepped up and basically led us to this victory." -Brendan Haywood

"He was in the paint a lot. He broke us down a little bit and he made some shots early. He was able to get his teammates involved by collapsing the defense and kicking it out to three point shooters. He did a really good job for them." -Coach Tyrone Corbin

"Tonight was a good night. When they give you a good shot, you've got to be ready to shoot it. I'm just trying to be aggressive ... The Jazz are a great team, but my teammates pushed me, everybody was pitching in, so yeah, I've had some good games against the Jazz because of my teammates." -Rodrigue Beaubois

On the fourth quarter -- after letting the Jazz creep back into the game the Mavs iced it with a 22-5 run ...

"Yeah, we cut the lead down to 2, and they got a steal and then they got out running and after a few plays they were back up by 8. And at a time like that we've got to tie out defense down and do better with it." -Paul Millsap

"We've gotten to a point where Millsap and Jefferson are so good that we start to watch them sometimes. And then a couple times when they get going, we ride them for so long, when a defense changes it up, we take ourselves out of rhythm by just standing and watching." -CJ Miles

Regarding Lamar Odom and the All-Around Game ...

He's doing what we're asking him to do; just keep playing basketball, keep staying aggressive. I thought his all-around game was tremendous; he defended, he made plays on offense. He made some really high basketball-IQ plays ... This was coming and he's been very determined. There's been some bad luck along the way, but you've just got to stay at it. Our crowd really likes him. They like him because of what he's done with the Lakers for all of those years. I love him as a guy. It's taken a while for him to get a feel for everything. This is an important night, and now he knows what it's about." -Coach Rick Carlisle

"He had a great all-around game tonight and that's what we need." -Shawn Marion

"It's not all about making shots. It's about making the right play, making stops, making defensive plays. Tonight I played a better all-around game." -Lamar Odom

From personal experience -- the adjustment process ...

"I was in the same position [in 2008]. You want to make sure you don't step on anybody's toes ... It's easier said than done. When you look at the talent in this room and all the battles [Odom]'s been in on the other side, you just want to fit in ... Again, it's just time. Unfortunately, with the shortened season, we don't have a lot of time." -Jason Kidd

The Return of Vince Carter, who played 28 minutes and punched out 12 points, 4 rebound, and 3 assists ...

"I felt good. I wasn't expecting to play big, big minutes. But I was ready to go, ready to play and I wasn't gonna come back if I was gonna hurt the team. J-Kidd goes down, they called me in a little earlier than I expected, but I felt good ... I felt like a kid in a candy store." -Vince Carter

Briefly as instructed -- about Delonte West's hamstring injury ...

"It's nothing to be worried about, nothing to write a whole page on. Maybe a couple of sentences. It was bothering me a little bit coming into the game. It was tight. If you've ever had a charley horse before, you know it kind of locked up on me. We've got four games in five nights coming up, and the best thing to do is to take another day and let the hamstring calm down and get ready to go." -Delonte West

On rotations by necessity, or the short version of Be Ready ...

"Tonight was really a microcosm of what this season is about. You can tear up any rotation sheet that you make up. It's going to be seat of our pants, everybody's got to be ready. We trust all our guys and tonight they showed why their trust is earned." -Coach Rick Carlisle

Guess who's coming to dinner ...

"We had a lot of guys step up tonight and we needed it after that bad loss on Wednesday. Everything was working well and we need that to keep working Sunday against the Spurs." -Brendan Haywood

"It was a good game, but we know one game at a time. San Antonio is our rivalry, so we know it's gonna be exciting and it's gonna be pumped up in here." -Shawn Marion

Dirk's status ...

"We're all anxious to get him back, but he's got to be ready. I think Saturday we'll know for sure where we're at." -Coach Rick Carlisle
