Mavs Q-&-A With Eddy Curry

'Obviously (the Mavs are) a great organization, great players and just a great opportunity,' Eddy Curry said upon meeting the media on Friday, his first day with his new club. 'I'm just glad it all worked out.' Well, it hasn't worked out just yet ... but the process begins with a shootaround, this media Q-&-A. and tonight, maybe a starting assignment:

Eddy Curry zipped into town in time for a 75-minute Friday shootaround, a cram course in the Dallas Mavericks playbook, and a meeting with the media before Friday night's preseason finale against the Bobcats at the AAC:

On the probability that, given Dallas' injuries, he will start tonight at 7:30 when the Mavs host the Charlotte Bobcats:

"I'm just going to out there and play. I know what I can do, they're giving me the opportunity to do it and I'm just going to make the best of it.''

On how his style of play can help Dallas:

"I can be a presence down low, especially with Chris being out, Dirk being out. I'm just trying to help them out and give them a physical presence.''

On his climb back into the game, which included winning a title last year in Miami (even though he wasn't a postseason contributor):

"It was still a heck of an experience. Something a lot of players don't get to do.''

On his weight (as we've reported, he seems to be 100 pounds lighter than a few years ago, the 7-footer now listed at 295):

"Uh, man, I don't know. I ain't weighed myself today so I can't really tell you that. ... "I feel great physically. My conditioning is great. I just finished training camp and took a couple days off to rest the muscles.''

On considering joining Dallas earlier this summer before accepting an invite to Spurs camp, where he was released this week:

"I talked to them this summer, so I knew there was some interest there,'' Curry said. "Once (the Spurs) waived me, I kind of knew this was going to be a situation for me. … Obviously a great organization, great players and just a great opportunity. … I'm just glad it all worked out.''

On his goals:

"I just want to have an impact this time. Leave my imprint on the game. … I want to win another championship.''
