It's 7-Footer Pre-Draft Day Inside Mavs HQ

NBA sources tell DB.com that the Mavs' pre-draft workouts are launching today with a quartet of 7-foot center prospects. Only Premium Mavs coverage can take you into the AAC basement as we meet a Texas kid, a sharpshooter, a giant Russian and Defensive POY Jordan Bachynski who says, 'I would love to play with and learn from the great Dirk Nowitzki.' Come inside!

The Dallas Mavericks know you can't teach height. But you can invite height to a Monday pre-draft workout at the AAC, and that is what is happening today.

DB.com has learned exclusively of the four-man, big-man workout. The players' identities:

Isaiah Austin of Baylor has a prosthetic eye that he didn't tell Bears coaches about until after he'd committed. Austin, 7-1, 225,sustained a detached retina from an incident in a baseball game. He is regarded by some as worthy as a pick in the 30s.

Jordan Bachynski is 7-2, 250 and was last season's Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. "I'm working on expanding my game a little bit to face up because I am athletic for my size,'' he recently told the Arizona paper. "That's what you need to do if you want to be successful in the NBA, so we're working on out to 15 feet, just being effective from out there. And then just focusing on the little nuances that are different about college basketball and the NBA."

Alec Brown from Green Bay is a 7-1, 235-pound sharpshooter who attended the Chicago scouting combine and was among the perimeter-shooting leaders as he made a combine-best 18-of-25 3-pointers.

Artem Klimenko is 7-0, 245 and is a known commodity on the international level who is considered high second-round worthy. The traditional big is a Russian, born in 1994, who averaging 15.1 points and 7.1 rebounds in 24 games with Avtodor. Here's a look at him:

Dallas presently holds two second-round picks (at Nos. 34 and 51). But interestingly, DB.com has learned that at least two of the Mavs pre-draft invitees might be projected as first-rounders ( our list of Mavs pre-draft workouts which you can read exclusively here) ... so again, they are exploring.
