His former team, the Eastern Conference rival Miami Heat, will pay a visit to Bankers Life Fieldhouse twice, including on New Year’s Eve. And the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs will make their only regular-season appearance on Feb. 9.
Those are some of the highlights to the Indiana Pacers’ 2014-2015 NBA schedule announced on Aug. 13.
Indiana gets to open at home with Philadelphia on Oct. 29 and Memphis two days later. Both games are at 7 p.m. The Pacers’ first road game is at Atlanta on Nov. 1.
The Cavaliers, who now have James as well as Kevin Love, are picked by many as the new conference favorites let alone the team to beat in the Eastern Conference’s Central Division, won the last two years by the Pacers. They visit Feb. 6 and Feb. 27th. His former team, the Heat, play in Indianapolis on Dec. 31 as well as April 5.
Here are some of the other schedule dates of note:
— Division rival Chicago is in Indy on Dec. 29 and March 6.
— In addition to the Spurs, other marquee Western Conference opponents playing only once on the Pacers’ home court are the Los Angeles Clippers (Dec. 10), Portland (Dec. 13), the Los Angeles Lakers (Dec. 15), Golden State (Feb. 22), Houston (March 23) and Oklahoma City (April 12).
— All Bankers Life Fieldhouse games begin at 7 p.m. except the traditional night after Thanksgiving game against Orlando at 8 p.m. on Nov. 28, the New Year’s Eve day game with the Heat at 3 p.m., a Jan. 29 visit from the New York Knicks at 8 p.m., as well as four 6 p.m. Sunday tip-offs against Golden State (Feb. 22), Philadelphia (March 1), Miami (April 5) and Oklahoma City (April 12). The final regular-season home game against Washington will be at 8 p.m. on April 14.
— The Pacers will be on national TV eight times. Two TNT games are Jan. 29 at home against the Knicks on Jan. 29 and at home against the Wizards on April 14. The Pacers will be on ESPN Nov. 5, when they visit Washington, Nov. 12 at Miami, and March 18 at Chicago. NBATV will also carry three games, Nov. 14 with visiting Denver, Dec. 5 at Sacramento and Jan. 4 at the Los Angeles Lakers.
All games will be on Indianapolis radio at 1070 The Fan (1070-AM, 107.5-FM). The Fox Sports TV schedule will be announced at a later time.
