Pacers pick up option on Solomon Hill

Second-year pro's contract is now through 2015-16. Pacers and Hill expect marked improvement this NBA season.

The Indiana Pacers gave second-year forward Solomon Hill a vote of confidence Thursday with the announcement they will pick up the 2015-16 option of $1,358.880 on his contract.

The 2013 first-round selection averaged 1.7 points and 1.5 rebounds last season, but the Pacers see his potential and have high expectations for him.

Hill was first off the bench but made only 1-of-6 shots for three points in Tuesday’s 103-90 Pacers preseason victory over Minnesota at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. He also had three rebounds and two assists.

After the exhibition opener, he spoke of having higher expectations for himself.

His rookie season included a five-day stint in the Developmental League with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. A sprained right ankle kept Hill on the bench during NBA Summer League in Orlando, Fla.

The team can make a qualifying offer for the 2016-17 season.
