Former Georgia Guard Kenny Gaines Signs NBA Summer League Contract with the Rockets

Kenny Gaines, a four-year letterman at Georgia, hopes to stand out to team representatives in Vegas this summer.

Kenny Gaines is hoping what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas this time around as he penned his name to a NBA Summer League contract with the Houston Rockets.

The Samsung NBA Summer League is set for July 8-18 in Las Vegas.

Gaines, a 6-3 guard, wasn't taken at the NBA Draft but had previously worked out with a number of teams, including the Utah Jazz, the Rockets, and the Atlanta Hawks, a team not far from his hometown of Riverdale, Ga., and his alma mater. In his four years in Athens, Gaines started three and landed the fourth spot all-time in 3-pointers made (213) at Georgia.

Gaines was also known for his determined perimeter defending.

Gaines is nowhere near perfect though and will have a lot to improve on if he hopes to make a NBA roster. In his senior season, he averaged 38 percent from the 3-point arc, 74 percent from the free-throw line, and 13.2 points.

Still, the Bulldog nation rejoiced with Gaines, taking to social media to show their support.
