Coach K reacts to DeMar DeRozan's missed dunk

Just about every American except for Coach K enjoyed DeMar DeRozan's 360 dunk attempt.

Team USA dominated every aspect of the game in a 107-57 victory over China, but the most impressive moment of the evening may have been a missed dunk.

With the game out of reach in the fourth quarter, Raptors guard Demar DeRozan attempted a 360 dunk with a defender on him. Unfortunately, he missed the dunk.

DeRozan managed to draw a foul on the play, but he was inches away from pulling off one of the best in-game dunks in recent memory. The players on the bench responded by picking up a technical foul for their reaction to the near-dunk, and the crowd responded by chanting “USA” while DeRozan was at the free-throw line.

Some people probably think that attempting a 360 dunk while up by 47 points against an inferior opponent embodies what being American is all about. However, Team USA and Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski is not one of those people.

In fact, Coach K seemed upset about the play after the game. According to Marc J. Spears of ESPN, Coach K said, "We had a little bit too much fun out there tonight. We have to tone that down a little bit."

He didn’t mention DeRozan by name, but it’s pretty clear which play he was primarily referring to.

Even though Coach K wasn’t a fan of the dunk attempt, DeRozan can take pride in knowing that his teammates, fans, and other players from around the league appreciated his efforts.

Never change, DeMar DeRozan.
