Seneca Wallace Profile
With the uncertainty behind quarterback Colin Kaepernick, the San Francisco 49ers have interest in free agent Seneca Wallace, according to a report from CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco.
Wallace was cut by the Saints earlier this week and played for 49ers' assistant Eric Mangini with the Cleveland Browns in 2010.
The 49ers currently have Colt McCoy, Scott Tolzien and B.J. Daniels serving as Kaepernick's backups. But only Daniels has played well in his limited time this preseason. McCoy will be second in line in Sunday's tuneup against the Minnesota Vikings. But the three quarterbacks have taken the same amount of reps in practice since last week's 15-13 win in Kansas City.
Daniels came in with 5:42 left in the third quarter in the win over the Chiefs and completed 6 of 9 passes for 72 yards, the winning touchdown and quarterback rating of 128.0.
McCoy has thrown two interceptions in as many games this exhibition season while he continues to adjust to the new system. Tolzien has completed 18 of 34 throws and has a 57.0 passer rating.
The 33-year-old Wallace is entering his eighth NFL season and has appeared in 62 games and made 21 starts between the Seahawks and Browns.
