With wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. sidelined by a sprained MCL, the 49ers opt to re-sign Jason Hill, who was among their final roster cuts this month.
Wide receiver Jason Hill, who was among the San Francisco 49ers' final roster cuts this month, has re-signed with the team. To make room, the team released undrafted rookie cornerback Tramaine Brock.
In another move, the 49ers released linebacker Bruce Davis, who had been on the practice squad. It's likely the team will fill the open spot by putting Brock on the practice squad.
Hill, 25, was a third-round draft pick by the 49ers in 2007. He played in 32 games in three seasons, totaling 40 catches, 413 yards and four touchdowns.
With Ted Ginn Jr. out because of a sprained MCL, the Niners opted to add Hill while rookie Kyle Williams recovers from a sprained toe. Dominique Zeigler becomes the No. 3 receiver.
