"We're having a camp week, we really are. Three days of pads in a row. We're not trying to freshen up for this Raider game. We're really practicing a lot here and it's pretty physical. Guys are a little chippy, they get a little edgy. But we needed to be in camp mode here for three days." --- Niners coach Steve Mariucci

Defensive tackle Bryant Young suffered a partially torn subscapularis muscle
in his left shoulder on Tuesday and will rest most of the next week. But
Young already was breaking a good sweat while working on his own without pads
Thursday ...While starting tailback Garrison Hearst rested Thursday, Paul
Smith and rookie Kevan Barlow took most of the snaps at the position. Both
are coming off minor injuries that held them out of practice recently, and
Mariucci isn't yet sure if either will play against the Raiders.
