"It looked like we were setting up for a team picture," Mariucci said. Actually, the players were gathered together to show unity - and to demand that Mariucci combine a scheduled afternoon special teams practice with the morning session. With camp scheduled to break in Stockton on Saturday morning, Mariucci complied after noticing the players didn't follow him down to the field.
"I thought they were just kind of sitting up there waiting for the coach to
show up," Mariucci said. "And they're all up there laughing. I go, 'OK, I get it.' We (coaches) just said, 'You got it.' It's a little fun. And a good idea."
