49ers Open Levi's Stadium With Broncos

The league has made it official: the first NFL game at Levi's Stadium will be between the 49ers and Denver Broncos. The rest of the preseason slate includes trips to Baltimore and Houston.

The San Francisco 49ers will face Peyton Manning the defending AFC Champion Denver Broncos in the NFL game ever played at Levi's Stadium.

The NFL announced a tentative preseason schedule Wednesday that has the 49ers traveling cross country to Baltimore to open their exhibition slate in a rematch of Super Bowl XLVII with the Ravens. Of course, it will be the third match up between the brothers Harbaugh since Jim became San Francisco's head coach in 2011. The last time the 49ers faced the Ravens on their home field was Thanksgiving of 2012 when they lost 16-6. John has a 2-0 record against his younger brother.

The Broncos will come to Santa Clara in the second week of the preseason. The 49ers will host the San Diego Chargers the next week before traveling to Houston before the start of the regular season.

The regular season schedule is set to be announced in the coming weeks. On a tour of Levi's Stadium earlier this offseason, team officials said they are anticipating opening the $1.2 billion facility in Week 2 of the regular season, likely in front of a national television audience.
