49ers trim roster to 75

The San Francisco 49ers announced their first cuts Monday a day before the deadline to trim the roster from 90 to 75.

The 49ers cut eight players and moved seven more to reserve injured lists, putting the roster at 75 in advance of their final preseason game Thursday night against the Texans. The 49ers must cut down the roster again to 53 by 1 p.m. Saturday. The team can begin assembling the 10-man practice squad Sunday once players start clearing waivers.
