Report: Brock unlikely to play vs. Giants

According to a report, cornerback Tramaine Brock is unlikely play Sunday in New York with a hamstring injury.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The 49ers could be without cornerback Tramaine Brock for the seventh time this season Sunday.

Brock is unlikely to play against the Giants due to a hamstring injury, according to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle.

A toe injury sustained in Week 1 prevented Brock from playing until Week 7's loss to the Denver Broncos. Following the 49ers' bye week, Brock sat out the 13-10 loss to the St. Louis Rams with the same injury before returning Sunday in New Orleans.

Brock had a decreased role Sunday, playing in 20 snaps, the second-fewest of any game this season.

Brock did not practice Wednesday, and neither did rookie nickel back Jimmie Ward. He was listed on the injury report with a foot ailment. Ward had a sustained a Jones Fracture leading up to the draft that required surgery. It's unknown if it's the same foot.

Linebacker Chris Borland, who will be filling in for Patrick Willis for the remainder of the season, was wearing a blue no-contact jersey while dealing with a shoulder issue. Borland had a multitude of shoulder issues at Wisconsin, including a torn left labrum. He had season-ending surgery on that shoulder in the fall of 2010. Like Ward, it is unknown if his current injury is on the same side as his college ailment.

Bruce Ellington and Ian Williams, who both left Sunday's game with left ankle injuries, were sporting walking boots in the locker room Wednesday and did not practice. Head coach Jim Harbaugh believes Ellington will return at some point, while there's a Chance Williams could go on injured reserve after suffering a fracture in the win against the Saints.
