New 49ers linebacker Gerald Hodges spoke about his new role with San Francisco.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Newly-acquired linebacker Gerald Hodges was inactive Sunday against the Giants in his first game since joining the 49ers in a trade for reserve center Nick Easton.

Hodges Friday said discussed his role with his new team, which has become relevant after head coach Jim Tomsula said he was planning on monitoring NaVorro Bowman's reps going forward. Hodges went initial joined Penn State as a safety before transition to linebacker during his freshmen year.
