SANTA CLARA, Calif. - 49ers running back Carlos Hyde will have at least 38 days off from game action to allow the stress fracture in his left foot to heal.
San Francisco ruled its starting running back out for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, marking the fourth straight game the Ohio Sate alum will be sidelined. Hyde hasn't played since the Thursday night loss Oct. 22 to the Seattle Seahawks.
Hyde has not practiced since, which was two games after he initially suffered the injury Oct. 11 against the New York Giants.
The Cardinals (8-2) have the NFL's sixth-ranked rushing defense and are set to face Shaun Draughn, who has 173 all-purpose yards (95 rushing, 78 receiving) since taking over the starting job in the last two games. Before last week's game in Seattle, the 49ers added journeyman Travaris Cadet, who played three snaps while Kendall Gaskins did not make an appearance on offense.
Outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks, who reported concussion symptoms Monday, returned to the practice field for the first time this week on Friday, sporting a blue non-contact jersey. Brooks will have one more contact test Saturday before passing the league mandated concussion protocol, which would allow him to play Sunday against the Cardinals' top-ranked offense.
Center Daniel Kilgore, who returned to practice last week for the first time this season, said in the locker room Friday he's unsure if he will be elevated to the active roster Saturday in time for Sunday's game.
