From the locker room
"Of course we're not happy with the outcome. You always want to win and I really can't tell right now (what happened) because we haven't watched the film. It's tough, but this team still sticks together and we are not the people who separate themselves from one another. We're staying as a group and that is what we need to carry on for the rest of the season. So once we go watch the film, we can go make our corrections and move on to next week." --- 49ers guard Kyle Kosier "I can't say enough about out defense. They have played hard all year and they're very good, too. The defense has been consistent all year. We've been blitzing all year. Our defensive style is about going after the quarterback. That's our style, just being aggressive." --- Redskins coach Joe Gibbs "Our defense played extremely well today. They made some really big plays and had some key stops for us to keep us in the game, but we gave them way too many opportunities on the offensive side and that's what cost us. We came out and had several turnovers and that's really what it's been like for us all year long. We have a lot of work to do in the offseason to try and get this thing turned around." --- 49ers receiver Curtis Conway "I guess you could say it was a different week. But it did not hinder our preparation for the game at all." --- 49ers coach Dennis Erickson, referring to how his interview with University of Mississippi officials earlier in the week might have affected his team "We made plays when we had to, but the crazy thing was we could have had several more (interceptions). That would have been really something if we had turned in a couple more interceptions. We put great pressure on their quarterback. We did that pretty much all day. We usually give up about 15 points, so we didn't come out on that one. But we'll take the ‘W' anyway. We pride ourselves on holding the opposition in check. We think we have a pretty good defense and we showed that at times today." --- Redskins linebacker Antonio Pierce "They were an aggressive defense and they are the No. 2-ranked defense and we were able to do some things against them. The offensive line did a tremendous job picking up the blitz and the running backs did a great job of protecting and a couple things really hurt. All in all, it was good decisions except two. Some throws were off, but it's about fine-tuning and decision-making and playing within yourself. These are all things you have to learn from and make sure they don't happen again." --- 49ers quarterback Ken Dorsey "We haven't had a whole bunch of (turnovers) until today, so this was sweet. The turnovers turned the complexion of the game. Dorsey's a fine young quarterback and he's doing a heck of a job. But we were in his face constantly today, and it's hard to throw the ball accurately under that type of pressure. He had to be feeling the heat." --- Redskins linebacker Lemar Marshall "Yeah, we rattled Dorsey. He saw us coming, coming and coming. When you have that many turnovers, it's pretty evident that you're rattling him." --- Redskins cornerback Fred Smoot "I feel physically I should be able to beat any defender who is trying to block me, especially when it is one on one. I've been good at that since my freshman year in college. Up and under the defender normally works for me." --- 49ers safety Keith Lewis, on his blocked punt in the second quarter "We were able to move the ball effectively, but the one thing we need to focus on is the fact that we didn't get the ball into the end zone when we got down there. Our defense has been playing solid all year, and we found a way to capitalize today. The defense kept us in great field position all day because San Francisco's defense flew around all day." --- Redskins quarterback Patrick Ramsey "We have a lot of guys on this team who love this game, who love this organization, and who love the fans. We just have to come together and have a complete game." --- 49ers defensive tackle Anthony Adams "There were some times where they sustained some drives on us. So, there are some good things and positives to build on, but then there are some things to work on as well. In all three phases of the game, we just have to become more consistent. Until we do, it will tough to win." --- 49ers linebacker Jeff Ulbrich
