49ers getting tougher on defense

"This is a chance for me to play close to home and have my family see me play and enjoy the NFL experience. I like the fact the 49ers are a good, young defense and are a playoff caliber team. I'm looking forward to coming out, getting to know the guys and being part of the 49ers machine." -- Tony Parrish

The 49ers added unrestricted free agent Sean Moran yesterday. Moran was originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills then left via free agency to play for the Rams. Moran signed a three-year contract that is worth $2.375 million annually, and received a $400,000 signing bonus. "Given how difficult it is to find defensive linemen in this league, you're always happy to add a veteran guy to the mix at that position," said Terry Donahue. "We like Sean a lot and he'll fit in well with what we do." The signing of Moran came on the heels of the Tony Parrish signing. Parrish's signing means that Lance Schulters will play elsewhere. "As talks continued with Lance and his representative it was very apparent that we were just too far away," Donahue said.
