Preseason slate is set

The 49ers finalized their 2002 schedule on Tuesday when dates were set for their five preseason games.

It previously had been established that San Francisco would open the preseason against the Washington Redskins in the American Bowl Aug. 3 in Osaka, Japan, and then play a nationally-televised exhibition game Aug. 19 against the Broncos in Denver. T

he Niners other preseason games will be:

Aug. 10 at home against Kansas City.

Aug. 24 at Oakland and Aug. 28 at home against San Diego.

Each of those games will begin at 6 p.m. The Niners only have three days of rest between their last two exhibition games because they'll begin the regular season on Sept. 5 against the New York Giants in the first Thursday night regular-season opener in NFL history.
