He missed, but both outstretched arms were wrenched when Anderson broke through. 1222 Bly, Dre (Detroit Lions) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- CB Dre' Bly is waiting to learn if he will require surgery to correct damage to his wrist suffered in the Lions' 13-10 victory at Cleveland. Bly has four interceptions in the last three games. Surgery would not necessarily rule him out for the season but would mean he would have to wear a cast while he plays. 828 Johnson, Kevin (Detroit Lions) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- WR Kevin Johnson, the Lions' leading receiver with 17 catches for 133 yards, has been lost for the season with a ruptured Achilles' tendon. He is expected to require surgery to repair the injury and wouldn't be ready to play until the 2006 season. 1592 Peppers, Julius (Carolina Panthers) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- DE Julius Peppers has a broken bone in his hand but will continue to play the next several weeks with a cast on. 1532 Bruschi, Tedy (New England Patriots) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- ILB Tedy Bruschi spent the bye week practicing with the team in working back from the mild stroke he suffered last February. The team has a 21-day window to activate the Pro Bowl linebacker to the 53-man roster. Bruschi has been working with the first-team defense and is expected to be activated in time to play in Sunday night's game against the Bills. 736 Lewis, Ray (Baltimore Ravens) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- LB Ray Lewis will miss at least at least one game with a hamstring pull. He will be replaced by Tommy Polley at middle linebacker. Polley's spot at outside linebacker will be filled by Bart Scott. 777 Warner, Kurt (Arizona Cardinals) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- QB Kurt Warner is healthy enough to return to the starting lineup, and that could happen this Sunday in Dallas. Warner has missed three games with a torn groin muscle but was the backup quarterback last week against Tennessee. 2132 Boldin, Anquan (Arizona Cardinals) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- WR Anquan Boldin didn't catch a pass last week for the first time in his 32-game NFL career. Late last week, doctors upgraded his condition from serious but stable to satisfactory. Hamlin's release from the hospital was another step in his recovery from a broken skull and bruised brain, but no one could say for sure whether Hamlin would return to the field. Hamlin also has a broken right hand, although that injury would not have been enough by itself to keep him from playing. 400 Dilfer, Trent (Cleveland Browns) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- QB Trent Dilfer has had two poor games and some serious offensive struggles (two touchdowns from the offense in four games), and the media and fans asking if Dilfer will keep starting. The Jets believe he'll be ready to play after the bye week. Only the Jets could conceivable sit the struggling Testaverde against the Chargers next game for Brooks Bollinger. 521 Barber, Tiki (New York Giants) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- RB Tiki Barber had all the Giants' carries in the last week's victory over Denver except for one end-around by WR Tim Carter. He has 37 receptions in six games for 481 yards and five TDs. 1423 Feely, Jay (New York Giants) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- PK Jay Feely still hasn't missed this year. Garcia is expected to get most of the reps with the Lions offense this week and will start Sunday against Chicago. 1768 Rogers, Shaun (Detroit Lions) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- DT Shaun Rogers will be listed as week-to-week after suffering a sprained right knee in the Lions' 13-10 win at Cleveland. He has not been ruled out for the game against Chicago next Sunday but it appears unlikely he will be able to practice until late in the week, if at all. 1277 Backus, Jeff (Detroit Lions) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- LT Jeff Backus played reasonably well in the Lions' 13-10 victory Sunday at Cleveland despite playing with a sprained ankle suffered a week earlier. It is likely Backus will miss practice time early this week but he plans to play in the game against Chicago next Sunday. 3360 Williams, Roy (Detroit Lions) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- WR Roy Williams has missed two games with a strained left quadriceps and it remains uncertain if he will be able to practice yet this week in preparation for the game Sunday against Chicago. He was limited in what he could do in practice last week and the Lions are waiting to see how much improvement he has made before deciding whether he has any chance of playing Sunday against Chicago. 3793 Muhlbach, Don (Detroit Lions) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- LS Don Muhlbach has not played since suffering a knee injury Oct. 2 at Tampa Bay but he is able to run and make long snaps. Coach Steve Mariucci wants to make sure Muhlbach is able to break down and make plays as part of the special teams coverage units before he decides whether to play him Sunday against Chicago. 1539 Harrington, Joey (Detroit Lions) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- QB Joey Harrington, who missed his first healthy start since being drafted No. 3 in the first round by the Lions four years ago, said he will accept the backup role to Jeff Garcia and will be prepared to play if the Lions need him. In the first five games of the season, Harrington completed 53.1 percent of his throws with four touchdowns and eight interceptions, and a passer rating of 55.6 before being benched for Garcia. 3494 Jones, Kevin (Detroit Lions) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- RB Kevin Jones survived the Lions' 13-10 victory at Cleveland, playing with his injured left shoulder in a harness, and is expected to play next Sunday against Chicago, though it appears likely he might miss some practice time early in the week. In six games, Jones has just 300 yards rushing in a running game that has been inconsistent. 122 Schlesinger, Cory (Detroit Lions) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- FB Cory Schlesinger returned to duty Sunday at Cleveland, playing for the first time since suffering a broken left fibula in the preseason opener. Sharing FB time with Paul Smith, Schlesinger got no carries but caught two passes for 10 yards. It appears likely he will get more work next Sunday, blocking against Bears MLB Brian Urlacher. 2019 Rogers, Charles (Detroit Lions) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- WR Charles Rogers, who had just five receptions 77 yards in the Lions' first three games, has one game remaining on his four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse program. He will be eligible for the game Nov. 6 at Minnesota. 2975 Vines, Scottie (Detroit Lions) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- WR Scottie Vines caught five passes for 34 yards against the Cleveland Browns and could get more work Sunday when the Lions meet the Chicago Bears. With the Lions receiving corps shredded by injuries and Charles Rogers' suspension, Vines has stepped in and played well. 2470 Redding, Cory (Detroit Lions) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- DE Cory Redding is expected to get more playing time at DT while Pro Bowl DT Shaun Rogers recovers from a knee injury. It should help that he will have Brad Hoover back in the lineup this week blocking for him. 1585 Foster, DeShaun (Carolina Panthers) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- RB DeShaun Foster has now missed more than two weeks of practice and his return date from a bruised knee is unknown. He did not practice on Monday despite getting the past two weeks off. 3520 Colbert, Keary (Carolina Panthers) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- WR Keary Colbert probably will get another chance at starting Sunday against the Vikings, although he has been anything but consistent this season. 1274 Gardner, Rod (Carolina Panthers) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- WR Rod Gardner caught his first touchdown pass in Carolina's last game from Jake Delhomme and continues to steal playing time away from Keary Colbert. 439 Mangum, Kris (Carolina Panthers) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- TE Kris Mangum took a blow to the head a week ago Sunday and did not return. He was back on the field on Monday and should play this week. 2147 Seidman, Mike (Carolina Panthers) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- TE Mike Seidman, a former third-round pick, is playing with a shoulder injury but isn't really living up to expectations in Carolina. 58 Kasay, John (Carolina Panthers) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- PK John Kasay has now missed his last three field goal attempts - all from beyond 50 yards and two of which were blocked - after making his first eight this season. But he will return to the nickel back when Gamble returns from an ankle injury. 1270 Morgan, Dan (Carolina Panthers) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- LB Dan Morgan has a dislocation in his shoulder but will play this week with a harness on. Taylor has two of the Ravens' three longest runs of the season. 511 Mason, Derrick (Baltimore Ravens) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- WR Derrick Mason did not catch at least five passes for the first time this season. But he remains QB Anthony Wright's top target on third downs. 4207 Clayton, Mark (Baltimore Ravens) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- WR Mark Clayton has a good chance of starting against Pittsburgh after missing last Sunday with a sprained ankle. Bledsoe is second in the conference (third in the NFL) in touchdown passes (12) and third in the NFC (sixth in the NFL) in completions (124). Green had missed the previous game because of a strain of the same tendon and a bruised right knee. The four-time Pro Bowler gained only 255 yards in 77 carries this season, averaging 3.3 yard per rush, his lowest output since becoming the team's featured back in 2000 following a trade from Seattle. Franks had three catches for a season-high 38 yards Sunday, including a 14-yard grab on a throw made by Fisher in the second quarter. 136 Favre, Brett (Green Bay Packers) (10/25/2005) ---------------------------------------------------------- QB Brett Favre, whose record at Minnesota dropped to 4-10, had the best game of his career at the Metrodome with a passer rating of 121.6.
