(opening statement) "There was all the potential in the world to have a real frustrated locker room at halftime because we just couldn't seem to get going and we realized how capable a team the Giants were in that first half and there was really every reason to become frustrated, but I didn't see it.
I told the team that was the thing I was most proud about. How they handled the difficulty of this game. We were just flopping around, is how I like to describe it in that first half and it was rough sledding. It was hard to make first downs, but I didn't see any frustration. I saw poise. I saw composure. I saw good discussion at halftime. I saw some confidence. I saw some real pose and we had been in this situation before. I think this is how we opened up last year, 16 to 13. That was an overtime game. We're going to play in a lot of close games. There are a lot of good teams. Giants are a good team and it's not easy to win on the road against a good team. It really isn't and so you take it anyway you can get it and if we call this win ugly, which is a term that we all use, I guess it would fit that description, but they did a good job. They did a great job making it tough on getting the ball to T.O. They threw the ball well. Kerry Collins had a lot of big plays on third down, third and longs. They were physical.
They had a good scheme on defense, they really did, so it took us a long time to get going and we needed a big play in the last drive by T.O. and J.J. and Jeff and finally got it done. I'm proud of the team. I really am because of the way we handled the difficulty of this game. It's nice to come out of here with a win. It's not easy to come out of here with a win.
We've been in New York now twice in front of a very emotional sort of crowd on national television and I think our guys handled it very well, so I'm really proud of them."
(on what adjustments the team made at the half) "What happens is and I addressed the team last night, coaches are making adjustments the entire game. Especially in a game like this, the first game of the season or if a team has a bye week, they've got more time to tinker with things and show new things that you have to adjust to and you can't wait until halftime to make adjustments. That's too late, so you have to be making adjustments on the sideline after every series and we were doing that. They've got a real good front four. They put pressure on Jeff sometimes without bringing blitzes and that's been there style of play. They're pretty darn good up front, really good. They did a good job of containing our passing game. Made it rough on everybody, but we started mixing the run and the pass a little bit differently in the second half and started making some first downs and put some drives together."
