49ers FA Blog 3/5/10 Update 4

Shaun Hill's stock continues to tumble. He's gone from the 49ers starter the first six games of the year to strictly a backup in the organizational viewpoint and now even that status is shaky.

With former #1 overall pick David Carr, most recently of the Giants, scheduled to visit the 49ers over the weekend, the writing is on the wall that the team is ready to move on without Hill, who is much-beloved in the locker room but very limited on the field.

Nate Davis, last year's 5th round pick out of Ball State, remains very much a project, but the team is still high on him and he's not going anywhere. And coach Mike Singletary showed last season, by cutting veteran Damon Huard early in training camp, that he is firmly committed to having just three QBs on his 53-man roster.
