John McCargo Profile
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing former Buffalo Bills defensive tackle John McCargo today, according to a league source. McCargo tried out along with former Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jovan Haye.
The Buccaneers also auditioned defensive tackle Marcus Harrison, defensive ends Ryan Baker and Ogemdi Nwagbuo, defensive tackle Lamar Divens and running backs Graig Cooper, Nic Grigsby and Kory Sheets.
McCargo replaced defensive tackle Gerald McCoy on the roster as McCoy was placed on injured reserve.
McCargo is a former Bills first-round draft pick from North Carolina State.
He was with the Buccaneers earlier this year, but was cut prior to the regular season.
Traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2008, the trade was voided when he failed his physical.
Haye is a former Tennessee Titans player who played collegiately at Vanderbilt.
He was drafted in the sixth round by the Carolina Panthers in 2005.
He has also played for the Cleveland Browns and the Buccaneers.
Haye signed a four-year, $16 million deal with the Titans two years ago, but was cut on Aug. 29.
He has recorded 181 career tackles and 6 1/2 sacks.
