Demorrio Wiliams Profile
The San Diego Chargers signed former Kansas City Chiefs inside linebacker Demorrio Williams to a one-year deal.
He was cut by the Chiefs on Tuesday.
The Chiefs signed him to a five-year, $16 million contract four years ago, saving $1.7 million against the salary cap by releaing him.
Williams played in 12 games for Kansas City in 2011 as a reserve linebacker and special teams contributor after being overtaken by Jovan Belcher in the rotation.
Williams, 31, started 13 games for the Chiefs and recorded 117 tackles three years ago.
Williams spent the first four seasons of his career with the Atlanta Falcons and has started 64 of 125 career games during his career.
Takeo Spikes and Donald Butler started all 16 games for the Chargers last season at inside linebacker and both will return in 2012. Williams and Jonas Mouton, who is coming off an injury that ended his rookie season in training camp, will give the team depth at the position.
Williams was a first-team All-Big 12 linebacker at the University of Nebraska.
