The Miami Dolphins' lack of success at landing top free agents has enraged some of their fan base, prompting an old-fashioned picket line today.
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, roughly 30 protesters, including some wearing paper bags over their heads, have assembled outside the Dolphins' offices. The Dolphins failed to land quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn and signed David Garrard after he was out of football last year due to a back injury.
"We have the most passionate fans in football, and they are not shy about letting their sentiments be known," Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said in a statement. "We understand, and we are working hard on giving them something to cheer about this season."
Per the report, fans were sporting signs that read "FIRELAND."
The Dolphins' general manager is Jeff Ireland, who has been ripped lately by former Miami linebacker Joey Porter and television analyst Warren Sapp.
