Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman Ben Ijalana and reserve linebacker A.J. Edds have torn the anterior cruciate ligaments in their left knees and are out for the season.
"Both have significant knee injuries," Colts coach Chuck Pagano said. "Both are ACLs. We don't know at this time, obviously they're done for the year which is really sad. You hate to lose anybody in camp or at any time during the season especially Ben. The guy came back, had a significant knee injury, same knee, two hip surgeries, busted his rear to get healthy and get back and then unfortunately something like this happens.
"A.J., the same thing, all the hard work and time and preparation these guys have put in and then to come out here and in basically a non-contact drill and it happens. It happened to us in Baltimore. We get out there first day and a guy like Dominique Foxworth puts foot in the ground and knee goes, it's part of the game. We feel bad for those guys. They'll be back. They'll rehab just as hard as they did before, but we look for the next man to step up."
The Colts plan to sign replacements.
"I'm sure we'll have a workout here probably within 24 hours we'll get some guys in here," Pagano said.
Ijanala and Edds got injured on Sunday during non-contact drills.
Drafted in the second round last year, Ijalana tore an ACL in his left knee last year.
Edds tore the ACL in his right knee with the Miami Dolphins two seasons ago.
