Jason Babin Profile
The Philadelphia Eagles have surprisingly released veteran defensive end Jason Babin, the leading pass rusher on the squad.
"We appreciate everything that Jason has given this team over the last couple of years," Eagles coach Andy Reid announced. "We wish him all the best as he continues his career. By releasing him today, this gives us an opportunity to give more playing time to some of younger guys in the defensive line rotation."
Babin will be subject to waiver claims.
Meanwhile, wide receiver DeSean Jackson is headed to injured reserve with fractured ribs.
He caught 45 passes for 700 yards this season.
Offensive tackle Jason Peters (ruptured Achilles) is headed to injured reserve.
Today marked the deadline to activate Peters from the reserve/non-football injury list.
