Tragedy struck San Francisco 49ers tight end Delanie Walker after the Super Bowl.
Early Monday morning, Walker's aunt and uncle, Alice and Bryan Young Sr., were killed in an automobile accident. Walker tweeted that the accident was a result of a drunk driver striking the Youngs' car.
The 49ers released a statement in light of the tragedy.
"We extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to Delanie and his family as they grieve this tragedy," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said. "Our organization is here to support Delanie through this tough time, as we do with all of our players and staff. At this time, we will respect their family's privacy and ask others to do so as well."
Houston resident Nechole T. Thomas was in the other car that struck the Youngs' vehicle. She was charged with reckless driving, drunken driving and two counts of vehicular homicide with a bond of $300,000.
