The New England Patriots worked out veteran linebacker Brandon Johnson on Monday, according to a league source.
He wasn't immediately signed to a contract.
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound former Louisville standout played for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, recording 10 tackles.
A former Arizona Cardinals fifth-round draft pick, Johnson, 30, has also played for the Cincinnati Bengals where he strarted occasionally during four seasons.
Johnson has recorded 224 career tackles, 3 1/2 sacks and three interceptions with one forced fumble.
