Tom Nalen Profile
Former Denver Broncos center Tom Nalen is unhappy with how the organization he once played for has handled recent cases involving front office employees driving while under the influence of alcohol.
On July 6, Broncos director of player personnel Matt Russell was arrested for a DUI. But just a couple of days after his arrest was made public, the Associated Press discovered that Broncos director of pro personnel Tom Heckert was arrested on June 11 for drunk driving.
When addressing Russell's arrest, the Broncos made no mention of Heckert's situation when the franchise released a statement condemning Russell's actions.
Nalen is not pleased with how the Broncos have handled this situation.
"maybe if the broncos were more proactive in dealing with heckert, russell doesn't get the DUI. cowards," Nalen tweeted from his personal account.
The Broncos have tried their best effort at damage control, forcing both personnel men to release statements of their own. The Broncos also claim they will address these situations to prevent further incidents in the future.
"One member of the Broncos arrested for driving under the influence is one too many," the Broncos stated after Heckert's arrest became public. "This type of behavior puts innocent people at risk and cannot be tolerated. While our team and league supply plenty of resources to prevent these situations, it is clear we need to do better."
