KEYS TO THE GAME
Lions: DE Kyle Vanden Bosch is doubtful for Sunday due to what the Lions say is a neck injury. He didn't practice Tuesday or Wednesday. He has been fighting through knee soreness the past three weeks. Turk McBride would start in his place. ... QB Matthew Stafford (shoulder) hoped he'd begin structured throwing this week, but it's looking doubtful. He said he's only tossed the ball a couple of times. ... K Jason Hanson (knee) was placed on the injured list, ending his season. ... CB Tye Hill was signed Thursday to take Hanson's roster spot. Hill is a former first-round draft pick, 15th overall, of the St. Louis Rams (2006). A knee injury in 2008 cut short his stint with the Rams. He played for the Atlanta Falcons last year and was released by the Tennessee Titans before the start of this season. ... RT Gosder Cherilus (knee) did not practice Thursday after having full participation on Wednesday. He is expected to play. If not, Corey Hilliard would start. ... LT Jeff Backus, who will make his 156th straight start, will again be matched up with DE Julius Peppers, who has eight sacks in five games against the Lions. ... RB Maurice Morris has been taking reps with the first unit all week and is expected to start for the third straight week. Jahvid Best (toe) has been limited in practice all week.
