Bears Sign Okoye and Barber

The Bears continued adding to their roster today, signing a young, developing defensive tackle and a veteran running back whose hard-nosed style could make him the team's next goal-line runner.

The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with RB Marion Barber on a two-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Barber spent the last six seasons (2005-10) with the Dallas Cowboys, carrying the ball 1,042 times for 4,358 (4.2 ypc) and 47 touchdowns in 88 games (41 starts). His 47 rushing touchdowns during that span rank sixth in the NFL. He added 1,280 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 174 receptions (7.4 ypr).

The team has also agreed to terms with DT Amobi Okoye on a one-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Okoye originally entered the NFL as the 10th overall selection in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. In four seasons with Houston (2007-10), Okoye started 58 of 62 contests, recording 138 tackles, 11 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. In 2010, Okoye led the Texans defensive line with 44 tackles, adding three sacks while starting all 16 contests for the second consecutive season.
