8th Annual Bears Care Gala

Here's your chance to get rub elbows with Bears players and coaches, while helping the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund. The eighth annual Bears Care Gala fundraiser, "Brian's Song...So That Others May Live To Sing" takes place on Friday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Chicago Ritz-Carlton.

Former Bears wide receiver Tom Waddle will serve as the Master of Ceremonies while Bears coaches including Dick Jauron, Greg Blache and John Shoop are scheduled to attend along with players Alex Brown, Chris Chandler, Paul Edinger, Brian Urlacher and several others.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center, which funds breast cancer research, and the breast care program at Cook County Hospital. The Gala also supports studies by Dr. David Fishman, of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, which are designed to detect and prevent ovarian cancer.

The Gala will include a raffle which includes a trip for two to the 2004 Super Bowl in Houston, round-trip tickets for two anywhere in the world United flies, $5,000 cash and the ultimate dream trip for a die-hard fan - the opportunity to travel to an away game with the Bears on their team charter with accommodations at the team hotel. Raffle tickets are available for $50 each or five for $200.

Ron Magers from WLS-TV will serve as celebrity auctioneer for the live auction. Live auction prizes include a "Tour of Soldier Field" package with a cocktail party and two stadium seats from the 'old' Soldier Field autographed by Chicago Bears players and coaches. Also included is a relaxing escape to the Lake Austin Spa in Austin, Texas, a luxurious estate vacation in the Italian countryside of Tuscany's Chianti Classico wine region, travel with the team to an away game, a fabulous dinner for ten at Wildfire of Lincolnshire with Bears general manager Jerry Angelo and a starting Bears player and the ultimate Cubs fan package which includes throwing out the first pitch.
