Damaging blow

The chances of Henry Burris making the Bears 53-man roster were slim, but that just became none as the quarterback sprained his knee over the weekend and will miss the remainder of the NFLE schedule.

The backup quarterback injured his left knee during Berlin's 24-14 win over league leader Barcelona Saturday (5/10) and has returned to Birmingham, Ala., where NFL Europe sports medicine staff members will re-evaluate the knee.

Burris completed 55 of 99 passes (55.6 percent) for 589 yards with five touchdowns against five interceptions for Berlin in six games this NFLE season. With just four weeks remaining in the season, he will not return to the Thunder.

The Bears have Kordell Stewart cemented as their starter, while Chris Chandler is the likely backup with first-round pick Rex Grossman learning behind the veterans. Cory Sauter is currently on the roster, but is a long shot to make it past training camp.

Roster move
The Bears claimed rookie free agent tight end Robert Johnson off waivers Tuesday. Johnson, a 6-6, 270 pounder out of Auburn, originally signed with Atlanta as an undrafted free agent but was waived injured by the Falcons.
