Outreach program

Bears general manager Jerry Angelo and select players are scheduled to visit two area middle schools this week.

Angelo and linebacker Bryan Knight are set to meet with 250 fourth, fifth and sixth graders Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at A.J. Katzenmaier Middle School in North Chicago.

Defensive end Joe Tafoya will join Angelo Thursday to visit with approximately 600 seventh and eighth graders from 9:15-10 a.m. at Wauconda Middle School.

The visits are an extension of the Bears School Outreach program when, every Tuesday during the season, players and staff visit Chicago Public Schools to speak, motivate, and interact with students.

More than 7,000 students benefit from this program, sponsored by BOEING, with themes which stress character development, goal setting and commitment to excellence.
