Donovan McNabb is now a free agent. He was waived by the Minnesota Vikings yesterday, which gave every other team in the NFL the opportunity to claim him off waivers. Yet Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune just reported that no team put in a waiver claim for the the 13-year veteran.
He can now sign with any team he wants, which doesn't mean the Bears aren't necessarily interested. McNabb would have been owed $1.6 million if claimed off waivers, so there's still a slim chance Chicago will sign him at a reduced rate.
"I like our quarterbacks we have here right now," Lovie Smith said earlier in the day.
The team is still hopeful Jay Cutler can return for the playoffs.
