The Frankfurt Galaxy (6-3) became the first club to clinch a berth in the June 14 title contest (12:00 PM ET, FOX) at Glasgow, Scotland's Hampden Park on the strength of a 38-7 win over the arch-rival Rhein Fire.
Three teams – Rhein, the F.C. Barcelona Dragons and Scottish Claymores – are tied at 5-4 in the standings and are all still in the hunt to join the Galaxy in the World Bowl. It will be decided this Saturday and Sunday as NFL Europe's 11th regular season comes to a close.
"This team is special and I have said that from day one," said Frankfurt head coach Doug Graber. "They have dramatically improved as the season progressed and the guys are starting to take their play to a different level."
A look at qualification scenarios for World Bowl XI with two weeks remaining:
F.C. Barcelona Dragons (5-4) – Need a win vs. Rhein and a Scotland loss to Amsterdam.
Frankfurt Galaxy (6-3) – Have clinched a berth in World Bowl XI.
Rhein Fire (5-4) – Need a win vs. F.C. Barcelona and a Scotland loss to Amsterdam or a Frankfurt loss to Berlin.
Scottish Claymores (5-4) – Need a win vs. Amsterdam and a Frankfurt win vs. Berlin or an F.C. Barcelona win over Rhein.
The Amsterdam Admirals (4-5) and Berlin Thunder (2-7) have been eliminated from World Bowl contention.
