LAKE FOREST, IL - The Chicago Bears announced Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill., as the team's new training camp site beginning in 2002.

The search for a new training camp facility began February 23 and included 12 sites around Illinois.

The list was trimmed to a group of four finalists on May 4 including Olivet Nazarene, Millikin University in Decatur, Northern Illinois University in Dekalb and Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

Olivet Nazarene is the seventh Bears training camp site since 1933 and the selection marks the first time since 1983 that the team will prepare for the regular season within Illinois' borders.

The only other Illinois training camp sites in Bears history were Lake Forest College (1975-83) and Lane Tech High School in Chicago (1934).

The Bears are scheduled to open their 18th and final training camp at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Thursday, July 19, before opening the 2001 preseason campaign on Saturday, August 4, at Soldier Field vs. the Cincinnati Bengals.
