Training Camp Update

Since the start of training camp Friday, July 20 the Bears have been plagued by injuries and a holdout by eighth overall pick David Terrell.

Injury Update: Jim Miller is expected to miss approximately two weeks with a left hamstring pull. Miller suffered the injury in the afternoon practive on Friday. Tim Bream, Bears trainer, said the injury had no relation to the achillies tear, which was on the same leg. Shane Matthews and Cade McNown will get increased reps as a result of Miller's injury. Marcus Robinson missed a practice on Monday and Tuesday due to heat releated symptoms. Robinson received an IV on Saturday and is day-to-day.

Terrell Update: There is no further word on contract negotiations with David Terrell. The eighth overall pick is trying to keep up with changes to the offense by contacting coaches and studying his playbook. Terrell is the third Bears draft choice to holdout in the last four years.

Roster Moves: The Chicago Bears waived tight end Shonn Bell and placed fullback Chris Johnson on the Reserve Left Squad list. Bell, who was re-signed by the Bears during the offseason after finishing the 2000 season on the Bears' practice squad, was a member of San Francisco's active roster at various times from 1998-2000 after signing with Houston as an undrafted free agent in 1996. Johnson, a defensive end for Kansas State last season, left the team after Saturday's morning practice for personal reasons.
